Ingredients
- 6 chicken thigh, bone-in
- 2 onion, finely chopped
- 3 tomato, chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 0.5 cup yogurt
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 2 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 0.5 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 cup water
- fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Steps
- 1Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- 2Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- 3Add ginger paste and garlic paste, stir well and cook for 1 minute.
- 4Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they are soft and oil starts to separate.
- 5Add cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Stir the spices well.
- 6Add chicken thighs and mix well to coat them with the spice mixture.
- 7Allow the chicken to sear for 5 minutes, turning the pieces occasionally.
- 8Lower the heat to a simmer and add yogurt. Mix it in smoothly to avoid curdling.
- 9Pour water into the pan, cover it with a lid, and let the curry simmer for about 30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
- 10Add garam masala in the final 5 minutes of cooking and stir well.
- 11Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro before serving.
