Crispy fried chicken strips in a sweet and spicy sauce, served with garlic rice for an Indo-Chinese favorite.

Ingredients

  • 250 g chicken, boneless, cut into thin strips
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • 2 tbsp maida
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp red chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 0.5 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 6 garlic
  • 2 dry red chilies
  • 1 onion
  • 1 capsicum
  • spring onions, for garnish
  • sesame seeds, for garnish

Steps

  1. 1Marinate 250g chicken thin strips with 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste, ½ tsp black pepper, 2 tbsp cornflour, 2 tbsp maida, and 1 egg
  2. 2Rest the marinated chicken for 15-20 minutes
  3. 3Deep fry the marinated chicken till golden and crispy
  4. 4In a bowl mix sauce: 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp red chili sauce, 1 tbsp ketchup, 1 tsp vinegar, ½ tsp chili flakes, ½ tsp black pepper, 1 tbsp honey, 1 tsp cornflour + 2 tbsp water
  5. 5In a pan heat 1 tbsp oil
  6. 6Add 5-6 garlic cloves and 2 dry red chilies to the hot oil
  7. 7Add 1 onion and 1 capsicum and stir fry on high flame
  8. 8Pour the prepared sauce and let it bubble
  9. 9Add the fried chicken and toss well
  10. 10Cook for 1-2 minutes till glossy
  11. 11Finish with spring onions and sesame seeds
